Im Sommer 2011 packten wir unsere Sachen in England zusammen, und machten uns mit einem kleinen Wohnwagen auf die Suche nach dem Bauernhof, von welchem wir schon seit Jahren träumten.
Anfang 2012 war es dann so weit. Unterhalb des Rotsteins (455m), in einem kleinen Ort inmitten der Oberlausitz und nicht weit von der polnischen und tschechischen Grenzen entfernt, fanden wir unseren Traumhof.
Zu diesem gehören 2,5 Hektar Ackerland an der östlichen Seite des Rotsteins (dem ältesten Naturschutzgebiet Sachsens) sowie ein weiterer Hektar Weideland mit den Wohn- und Wirtschaftsgebäuden, einer kleinen Obstwiese und vielen älteren Bäumen.
Entlang der unteren Grenze des Grundstückes fließt der Schwarze Schöps, dessen Quelle im Ort liegt und dessen Wasser letztlich über Spree, Havel und Elbe die Nordsee erreicht.
Momentan teilen wir das Land mit sechs Schafen, Hühnern, Enten, einem Hund und drei Hofkatzen, sowie zwei weitere Familien.
Wir träumen von einem offenen und lebendigen Hof, der uns und die weitere Gemeinschaft mit wertvollen Lebensmitteln versorgt, der Platz für einen Austausch von Ideen und Fähigkeiten bietet und welcher im Einklang mit den Kreisläufen der Natur einen zukunftsträchtigen Lebenswandel unterstützt.
In the summer of 2011, we packed up all our things in England and headed off with a small caravan and a tent in search of the farm that we had been dreaming of for years.
At the beginning of 2012, it revealed itself. On the flank of the Rotstein (455m), in a small village in the middle of Upper Lusatia, not far from the Czech and Polish borders, we found our dream farm.
It comprises two and a half hectares of arrable land rising up the eastern slope of the Rotstein (Saxony’s oldest Nature Reserve) as well as further meadowland, buildings, a small orchard and many old trees.
The “Schwarze Schöps” flows along the lower boundary. Its’ source is further up the village and it flows onwards via the “Spree”, the “Havel” and the “Elbe” into the North Sea.
We currently share the land with our dog Kai, six sheep, chickens, ducks, three farm cats and two other families.
We dream of a nourishing and welcoming farm to sustain us and the wider community; to enable and encourage the exchange of skills and ideas; and to support and co-develop a future-oriented way of life that exists in tune with the cycles of Nature.
